Digital Asset Management

Digital Asset Management

Digital asset management (DAM) systems evolved from the media industry to house photographs and video clips. Today, DAM has expanded into the enterprise, and is used for assets of all types. The distinguishing factor is the handling of thousands of asset variations (i.e. multiple renditions, languages, photos, logos and copy). Source files are the information or visual artifacts that combine to form a deliverable. Source files include photography, graphics, headlines, copy, logos, videos, and other types of content, and often have rights management requirements associated with them. Assets are the final, approved deliverables used in marketing programs and include whitepapers, webinars, blog posts, presentations, emails and landing pages. Asset management (e.g. storage, search, reporting, collaboration) is increasingly built into technologies, including marketing resource management, sales asset management, content marketing and some Web content management systems. Without integration to marketing automation and distribution or other systems, DAM typically offers reporting only on the use of assets within the system. Show less...
