Dialers help teleprospectors and sales reps connect with prospects by automating parts of the dialing process and, often, integrating with sales force automation. The category includes functionalities like list-building, direct dialing, click-to-dial capabilities, preview dialing, predictive dialing, voicemail automation, call routing and distribution, data capture and activity tracking. A main purpose of any type of dialing technology is to improve the efficiency of the lead management process by increasing reps’ connection rates with potential buyers. This can be accomplished through a variety of different features, functionality and techniques. The category of dialers includes vendors that offer one or more of the features listed above. As organizations increase their efforts to fill the top of the demand funnel (e.g. by implementing marketing automation platforms, teleprospecting and service-level agreements between sales and marketing), they need to increase their teams’ capacities to call qualified names in their databases. Increasing reps’ rate of connection when they call leads and prospects may not make cold calling more enjoyable, but it does make it more productive.
