Analytics is the process of applying mathematical, statistical and logical procedures to answer questions concerning how and why a given set of results were achieved (descriptive analytics), what results may be expected to occur in the future (predictive analytics) and what actions to take to influence future results (prescriptive analytics). While analytics have long been an important function within b-to-b, the proliferation of data within b-to-b has put a premium on the effective use of that data through sophisticated analyses.
